Digital Literacy Programme devices in Kenyan schools by county
The ICT Authority DigiSchool dashboard shows 21,649 of 21,772 primary schools with Digital Literacy Programme devices installed. That is 99.4% nationally. The headline is strong. The county detail shows where the last schools are.
The counties still catching up
Samburu has the lowest installation rate at 76.7%, with 112 of 146 schools covered. Isiolo follows at 83.0%. After those two, Garissa is at 93.9%, and every other county is above 97%. 38 counties are at 99% or higher.
What the programme has put in schools
The dashboard counts 1,078,034 learner devices and 43,240 teacher devices, plus routers and projectors in each county. A router in a school is not the same as a working connection. The map shows device installation only. Whether each school is online is a separate question that this data does not answer.
Where the schools are
I also map 29,700 geolocated schools from Giga. Kitui (1,298), Makueni (1,233) and Kisii (1,215) have the most. The schools layer on the map shows primary and secondary schools as clusters you can zoom into.
